Biography

I am seeking my first term on the Park County SD #1 Board of Trustees and bring a long history with the schools. I am a 3rd generation Powell native and Powell High School graduate. A mother to four PHS graduates, I am familiar with the entire district ranging from elementary through high school including academics, athletics and extracurricular activities. I am ready to join the team that supports our teachers, staff, students, and administration.

Many of the Board’s decisions are limited by state and federal legislation. I follow the Wyoming Legislature and can be counted on to try to understand the decisions that are made and how they will impact public education. This will guide me and my fellow board members to be the best advocates for students, parents, teachers, and taxpayers in our community.

Experience

I have been a ‘helper bee’ for my entire working career – from the age of 15 as a clerk in retail stores helping customers, to an insurance broker helping agents with sales for 15 years. And for the past 19 years as an administrative assistant covering human resources, payroll, and bookkeeping – helping support those around me to be successful. Now, I am ready to join the team that supports our teachers, staff, students, and administration.

Education

Powell High School graduate
Attended the University of Wyoming

Community Activities and Memberships

I have previously served as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Powell High School Alumni Association and I am currently on the board of Wyoming Rising, an all-volunteer non-partisan organization advocating for equality, civil liberties, quality public education, affordable healthcare, protection of the environment, and participation in government. My family owned a business in downtown Powell for over 20 years and I am an active business and community supporter.

Why I am Running

I know from experience that Powell has excellent schools with the best teachers and staff. I want to be a part of making sure it stays that way.

Top 3 Priorities

There is not one specific issue that motivates me, but rather one cause. I am motivated to focus on student success and policies that ensure academic achievement, physical well-being, mental well-being, and extracurricular encouragement.
