Why I am Running

Since relocating to Dubois in 2012, I have been involved in the community via nonprofit organizations and have attended many Council meetings. Worked for the Town for eight years (Public Works) and became interested in Budget and business development issues. Upon my arrival in Dubois, I noticed many of the businesses were struggling. It seemed evident these businesses needed a larger and more consistent customer base and the most immediate solution was improving the tourist visitation to our town. I became involved in the Chamber of Commerce and Destination Dubois. Destination Dubois is responsible for Tourist Asset Development funds. This is a tax that is placed on lodging and restaurant patronage and is paid for by visitors to our community. These funds are used by each community to develop a strong tourism base. When used properly, it can be a powerful tool to help our local economy. The businesses in our town are now flourishing due to the expanding tourism base. However, issues have arisen due to a lack of housing within our town limits. Many people have moved into the area, however, most of them reside outside of the town's jurisdiction leaving our town with an expanding community without the benefit of additional tax dollars. These issues need to be addressed with effort, strategy, and fair-minded dedication. My goal is to assist in any way possible to address these issues and develop a positive outcome for our community.

Top 3 Priorities
