Precinct

Responsibilities and Authority:

What this office does: These are party offices, not government offices, but they appear on the primary ballot. Must be registered in the party and live in the precinct, and serve two-year terms. They help shape county party organization, internal votes, and often who has influence when vacancies or endorsements are discussed. They serve a 2-year term.

Why it matters: Party structure often determines who gets recruited and supported for office or censured. This is a direct way to influence a party’s priorities.
