County Assessor

Wyoming Statute: Title 5, Chapter 3, Article 2
Responsibilities and Authority:

The County Assessors main duty is to assess the value of the property in a county so that they can be properly charged according to the current property tax laws. They also review public records so that the county has accurate information on any change of ownership of property.

Experience and Skills:

County Assessors must have an accurate understanding of their county’s fiscal position and economy, and be good at sleuthing out information concerning a property’s value or any change therein.

Impact on Citizens:

A County Assessor who is bad at their job could cause lower property taxes, which you may consider a good thing. However, it is also possible that they overestimate the property taxes, leading to unnecessary taxation. Therefore, it is wise to vote for someone that would do a good job.
