Biography

I am a lifelong resident of Wyoming. My Dad's grandfather homesteaded near Arvada in 1890. His parents spent their lives in Sheridan County. My Mom's father came to Wyoming in 1917 to work in the Midwest Oil field, and later moved to Dubois where he lived most of his life. I grew up in Pinedale where I graduated high school. I am married to Robyn and we have three amazing adult children – Nick, Zack and Hailey – and three wonderful grand children.

Experience

I have served the past 16 years in the Wyoming State Senate. During that time I have served on numerous committees, including Appropriations, Education, Revenue, Transportation and Corporations and Elections. I chaired the Select Committee on School Facilities for four years and currently serve as the Chairman of the Transportation and Military Affairs Committee. I am retired from a career that took me from newspaper, television and radio to work in public administration at Casper College.

Education

I graduated high school in Pinedale and later attended Casper College. I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Wyoming and completed some advanced graduate study at Colorado State University.

Community Activities and Memberships

I have volunteered for many years on many different fronts, including serving on the YMCA Board, giving time to Special Olympics, Central Wyoming Hospice, at at the many high school culminating events. I was an original member of the College National Finals executive committee. I am a past president of the Kiwanis Club.

Why I am Running

I am running to continue my work in representing District 27. I have the energy, the enthusiasm and the know-how to be and effective leader in the Senate. These are important times and we need individuals in Cheyenne who have deep roots in this state and really care about the future of Wyoming.

Top 3 Priorities

I will continue to emphasize fiscal responsibility, common sense government and a vision for the state that includes measures to help out citizens and small business. Water, tax structure and infrastructure will be key policy issues going forward.
