Biography

I was raised on a ranch in Campbell County that my family homesteaded in 1917. My roots run deep here, which has instilled in me a deep commitment to the preservation and betterment of this community. I worked as a Detention Officer for the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and later co-owned and operated Monogramming Plus Silkscreen. After we sold the business, I worked as the Director of the NE Wyoming Red Cross, where I coordinated fundraising efforts, organized CPR classes, and recruited and trained volunteers in a 3-county area. While I was the Director of the Red Cross, I responded to Wright after the tornado in August 2005. In the weeks to follow, I led the Red Cross disaster recovery efforts, as well as coordinating with the community agencies at the local and federal level to help the Wright community recover and rebuild. I have spent the past 16 years building my Farmers Insurance agency. I have 3 children, 4 grandchildren and a precious great granddaughter.

Why I am Running

When approached to run for this office, I gave much thought to this decision. It is time for me to step up and offer my experience in business management to public service and fill a need for sound leadership and management in the County Clerk’s Office. The Campbell County Clerk’s office has been under the same leadership since 1995. With the retirement of our current County Clerk, the County Clerk’s office will need strong leadership and management to make this transition as smooth as possible and keep the operations functioning efficiently. I believe that over time, it is beneficial to have fresh over-site in an elected office. This is an ideal time to have a fresh set of eyes on the operations of the County Clerk’s Office. My management experience will be a valuable resource to lead the office through this transition, and to assess the operations with a fresh and non-biased perspective. If elected, I plan to work closely with the staff to evaluate the operations and efficiency of each department to build on what is working well and make improvements where necessary. The office of County Clerk is a complex and demanding job, and I am committed to being a full time County Clerk. I intend to utilize my management experience to provide a transparent, efficient, and positive environment for the citizens of Campbell County to do business. I am not seeking this position with a personal agenda but with a genuine desire to do my part to help our county operate efficiently.

Top 3 Priorities

My top priorities as County Clerk are: 1.To keep and maintain voter and election integrity at the highest level. To build public trust, there is room for improvement on the election website for transparent disclosure of the local protocol and procedures for ballot security, tabulation, and chain of custody. I plan to implement open communication avenues for the public to learn about the voter registration process, upcoming election dates, polling locations, and provide access to sample ballots to help voters be informed and prepared for each election. 2. To record and safeguard public records. I plan to thoroughly evaluate the potential data security risks to digitizing our public land records and the long-term costs of future software and program updates to stay ahead of cyber-attacks. I plan to explore all potential avenues of maintaining our records, the long-term risks and costs to each to provide access to our public records in the most secure manner possible. 3.To build trust and strong working relationships with the staff, the county officials, and the citizens of Campbell County. I believe in leading by example with the fundamentals of honesty, transparency, and integrity; giving the staff the tools and resources necessary to grow in their jobs and as leaders. By building and retaining a competent team, the County Clerk’s office can provide the necessary services for the citizens and officials of Campbell County in the most timely and efficient manner.
