Biography

My name is Kris Bacheller. I am currently employed in the Pinedale Anticline by a mid-stream oil & gas company as the administrative assistant. I manage the requisitions, inventory, and work order closures for our team of 25 employees. My goal is to use my experience, knowledge and skills to improve transparency, cost effectiveness and efficiency for Sublette County. My biggest achievement is my family. Our six children are educated, employed and all of them learned strong work ethic by helping on the ranch. I am also honored to have participated in the Wyoming Retirement System Volunteer EMT Pension Board as one of the initial board members. We worked for over ten years to achieve funding. It is now known as the Volunteer Firefighter, EMT, and Search & Rescue Pension Board. This was a notable achievement for all volunteer First Responders in Wyoming.

Experience

I have the willingness, knowledge and desire to serve the people of Sublette County. My experience ranges from professional office management to administration for over thirty years and provides a robust foundation to be your next Sublette County Clerk. My knowledge includes management of government funded projects which required ongoing communication, documentation, strict budget guidelines and performance to dealing with employee claims and legal issues.

Education

My education includes graduation from Madison High School, Rexburg, Idaho. I continued my education at Rick's Colleges, now known as BYU-Idaho, Eastern Idaho Vo-Tech, and most recently Western Wyoming Community College where I was not just a student, but also worked for two years as an adjunct for the EMS program teachings new EMTs. I have been a volunteer EMT since 1992, maintaining my Wyoming license through ongoing certification. I am currently volunteer as an IEMT and firefighter.

Community Activities and Memberships

I am a founding member of Sublette County Cares, a non-profit organization that provides assistance through service. I participate as a volunteer firefighter with Sublette County Unified Fire, and as a volunteer IEMT for South Lincoln EMS. I also love my role on our company Community Investment Team as we help fund organizations, non-profits, STEAM education, School District projects and youth. I am also active with my church.

Why I am Running

Why am I running? Why not? My life is centered around public service, this is another way to continue my public service. When something can be done better and more efficiently you must be willing to sacrifice what is good for that which is better. After many months of participating in board of commissioner meetings, it became clear to me and others that there were issues/concerns over lack of transparency and poor communication within the meetings. That was the beginning of my search for someone who can provide leadership, communication, customer service to our county, that search came back to me. If I don’t step up, how can I ask anyone else to do so? Sublette County deserves a county clerk who promotes public engagement and transparency as well as communicates effectively with our county residents from commissioner meetings to recording county transactions. Sharing my attention to detail, my passion for this beautiful county, and the love I have for the people will ensure my administration is run with professionalism, respect, integrity and transparency.

Top 3 Priorities

My first priority is to improve accessibility, transparency and accountability. I feel strongly that people in our County want to participate in public meetings but the cost of fuel, the inconvenient timing and other complications make it difficult for them to attend in person. Having technology available that will facilitate ease of access will ensure those that wish to can participate from their location just by logging in to view. My goal is to work with the commissioners to provide meeting packets online with the agenda to an email listserv. I would also take on the responsibility to work with elected officials, department supervisors and the public to reengineer the county website to make it user friendly, current and easier to navigate.

A second priority is improving customer service by providing our county residents efficient, professional, timely services. Utilizing technology can improve the efficiency, accessibility and transparency of the office.

Another priority is the Clerk’s Office has a very important role in our county and it is imperative to enhance and create stability and accountability in the clerk’s office. Management and leadership are key to a successful office and the functions which people of this county depend on every day.

I urge everyone to get out and vote now by absentee ballot or in person August 16th and November 8th. This is your opportunity to enact change. I am up for the challenge as your next Sublette County Clerk.
