Biography

I was born in Wyoming and raised in Casper and even though I have lived in other states, I keep returning because Wyoming is simply my home. I have been married to a wonderful man for 34 years, and we have four children and five grandchildren as well as two amazing daughters-in-law. I have worked for the last twenty-seven years as a public school teacher or instructional facilitator. My favorite things are spending time with my family (including my fur-babies), reading, cooking, painting pottery, posting videos on my YouTube Channel @Mystical Rhinos Happen, and doing acrylic mandala/dot painting. I am very active in my church.

Experience

While I have never run for public office before, my twenty-seven-year experience as a public school teacher who has recently separated from NCSD makes me uniquely qualified to be a school board member.

Education

Bachelor of Secondary English Education
Master of Secondary Reading Education
Doctorate of Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction
An almost Master's degree in Educational Administration
Endorsements in English as a Second Language and K-12 reading

Community Activities and Memberships

I am active in my church community.
I am a past member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an educator service organization.

Why I am Running

I am running to be a voice for both certified and classified educators. As a very-recently separated, twenty-seven-year veteran as a public school teacher, with about ten years of my career working in NCSD, I feel that I can bring that voice of what is truly happening on the front lines of our classrooms. I am also running to be a voice for all students, no matter their backgrounds and especially for those students whose adults are not vocal or actively involved in the community.

Top 3 Priorities

1. To analyze the culture and climate of our schools and to see why 65% of Wyoming's teachers would choose to leave the profession if they felt financially able to do so. 2. If toxic environments are found, to listen, to support, and to work for specific change so that educators feel empowered to be the best professionals that truly make a difference in the lives of students.
3. To look at each issue that may arise carefully, to ask hard questions, and to work collaboratively to find answers that are in the best interest of our students.
