Biography

My name is Mike Olson, along with my wife and children have we have lived in Eastern Laramie County since 2010. Our three children have graduated from the school district #2. I have served on the board of trustees for 8 years with the last two serving as the board chairman. I am the president of my small business in Cheyenne which specializes in structural steel fabrication and erection. I started my business in April 2001. I have lived in Wyoming and Laramie County since 1980.

Experience

I have served on many public boards for several years. I served on the fair board for Laramie County for 4 years. I was the treasurer for 3 years. I have and continue to serve on the 4H sale Livestock Sale Committee. I was chairman of this committee for 10 years I currently serve as the vice chairman. I have served on the Laramie County School District #2 for 8 years and have served as vice chairman for 2 years and most recently as the chairman for the last two years.

Education

I graduated from East High School in 1987. Attended LCCC 1987-1989. Graduated from University of Wyoming with a BA in Elementary Education 1992.

Why I am Running

I am seeking reelection because I want to continue with the work that the board is doing. I feel that I offer a unique perspective to the board. My experience, having served the last 8 years, will provide the board with insight and understanding on funding, infrastructure, policy, staffing, and operation of LCSD#2.

Top 3 Priorities

I want to continue to work on assisting with the implementation of LCSD#2 strategic plan.
I want to continue to work on assisting with progress LCSD#2 is seeing on PLC work within the schools.
I want to continue to be part of the success of the students of LCSD#2.
