Biography

I was born and raised in New England, attended college in Maryland, and attended a conservative Catholic university to study politics and philosophy for graduate school in Texas, where I met my wife. (We have two daughters.) I have lived in Lander since 2018. As a professor at Wyoming Catholic College, I teach courses on the classical texts of the Western tradition, from ancient Greece and Rome to the history and literature of the American Republic.

Since moving to Lander, my family and I have fallen in love with Wyoming. We have been especially grateful to live here since 2020, as we saw that Wyoming's reaction to COVID was much less extreme than the rest of the country.

Experience

I became involved in local politics in 2021 via Wyoming Citizens for Liberty. In spring 2022, I attended the County GOP Caucuses and served as delegate at the Fremont County GOP County Primary. (At the primary, I was elected to serve as delegate on the Resolutions Committee at the 2022 Wyoming GOP Primary, but had to withdraw my name due to a family conflict.)

I regularly teach a course on the American Founding (including the US Constitution and Federalist Papers) at Wyoming Catholic College.

Education

B.A., Liberal Arts, St. John's College (Annapolis, MD), 2010
M.A., Political Philosophy, University of Dallas (Irving, TX), 2014
Ph.D., Political Philosophy, University of Dallas (Irving, TX), 2018

Community Activities and Memberships

In January 2022, I was appointed to the Wyoming Advisory Committee to the United States Commission on Civil Rights.

In July 2022, I was appointed the Fremont County Historic Preservation Board.

Why I am Running

The highest purpose of any government, in the words of the Preamble to the US Constitution, is to "secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity."

I became involved in local politics at the end of 2021, as I saw the Biden Administration's extreme policies (especially its threats of COVID vaccine mandates and its promotion of critical race theory and radical gender ideology in schools) and concluded that, in order to "secure the blessings of liberty," local and state resistance to these policies was necessary.

Top 3 Priorities

To promote, at the state level, laws that:

1. Protect unborn American children from abortion;

2. Protect born American children from predatory ideologies in our schools;

3. Protect American adults from the violation of their fundamental liberties, especially their First Amendment rights to religious practice, freedom of speech, and freedom of assembly; and their Second Amendment right to armed self-defense.
