Biography

Ross Schriftman is the author of the book, My Million Dollar Mom, which chronicles the life of his mother, Shirley, and the time he cared for her at the end of her life when she had Alzheimer’s; a form of dementia. After writing his book, he learned script writing and produced the short drama film by the same name. His film has been shown in six film festivals across the United States and won best drama and received seven nominations, including best short drama screenplay, at the Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival in 2018. The film won the Award of Excellence in the Best Shorts Competition in 2021.

Schriftman partnered with the Dementia Society of America which consulted on his film and helped develop the “Presentation in a Box” program for organizations to show the film, hold discussions about long term care planning, care giving and dementia awareness. So far, 46 organizations have held such events including a presentation in Harrisburg, PA to members of the PA Legislature.

Experience

Mr. Schriftman was a candidate for State Representative to the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 1974, 1976 and 2004 as well as a candidate for Montgomery County, PA Controller in 1979.

In 2020, Mr. Schriftman chaired the Policy Committee for Kathy Barnette for Congress (PA-District 4) and in 2022 he was the coordinator of Kathy’s policy teams in her campaign for the United States Senate from Pennsylvania.

Changed from Democrat to Republican in 2012.

Education

Mr. Schriftman holds the professional designations of Registered Health Underwriter, Fellow of the Life Underwriters Training Council, Advanced Chartered Benefit Consultant and Medicare Supplement Accredited Advisor.
He has taught courses to other insurance agents including a course in preparation for the Chartered Benefit Consultant designation. He has a BA in Political Science.

Community Activities and Memberships

Mr. Schriftman is a member of the Casper Chamber of Commerce, The Rotary Club of Casper, the Casper Marathon Committee, Secretary of the Windy City Striders Running Club and a member of Temple Beth-El.

In his spare time, he is an avid runner and has completed more than 200 marathons including the prestigious Boston Marathon.

Why I am Running

I have been active in politics since the age of 13. Now that I am semi-retired, I have time to visit my neighbors and tell them about candidates that I support.

Listen to citizens and consider their opinions when policy issues are to be decided by the Natrona County Republican committee
