Biography

I am a proud rural progressive Democrat. I believe government can and should work for the people, not just the rich. I started off my working life as a mechanic and spent years working on cars and on valves in nuclear power plants around the country. I have also worked in the service industry and on sustainable farms. I directly, viscerally, understand the needs, fears, and reality of working these kinds of jobs. I did much of this work while putting myself through college as a first generation college graduate. This experience of higher education has been transformational for me and has cemented the importance of education generally as it is the great equalizer offering anyone a path upward.

I live in Yellowstone National Park with my wife and dog. I like to hike, run, fish, ski, and hang out at the campfire. I am also an artist that paints, sculpts, and makes fine jewelry.

I am always willing to listen and want to here from folks living in HD23.

Experience

I have a wide and varied background. I spent years working as a mechanic, sustainable farm worker, and goldsmith. Throughout those years, I worked on bettering myself through education which ultimately led me to attend law school and get involved with politics. I testify at the Wyoming Legislature on issues important to me and my community, such as redistricting. I also served on the committee to select candidates for Wyoming's next federal judge and I am generally involved with my community.

Why I am Running

I am running because I have seen needs and problems in my community and across the state. I think I have good viable solutions for these issues and the skill set to address them. My law degree has provided me the tools to be able to dive right in and get right to work. Knowing how to write laws and how the courts will interpret them is valuable asset to bring to the legislature.

I am also running because I am frustrated with the Republican failures to meaningfully address the needs of our state. Instead of working to deliver to people in Wyoming, they traffic in crackpot conspiracy theories and harmful lies. They have attacked our democracy and embraced authoritarianism. They are racist, sexist, cruel, and violent and I have had enough. I want to join my other amazing and talented Democratic colleagues and work to solve our problems and deliver the goods and services our state owes the people living here. I want to help deliver healthcare access, high speed internet, affordable housing, protections for LGBTQ people, ensure bodily autonomy of women and people who can get pregnant, rural access to services such as driver's licenses, reduce our contributions to climate change, and get the state in a better financial position for the future through true economic diversification.

At the root of it all is the desire to help people and make my community a better place to live.

Top 3 Priorities

I am pro-democracy. I support our democracy and condemn the seditious conspiracy to overthrow our election on January 6, 2021.
I am pro-choice. Women and people capable of getting pregnant have a right to an abortion. This is critical for individual autonomy and the integrity of our demoracy.
Climate change is the greatest threat and challenge that we face and must be addressed boldy and immediately.
