Biography

4th generation Gillette native. Have lived in Utah, Colorado, Evanston Wy and back in Gillette since 1986. The oldest of four children of Tom and Nancy Murphy who served their community and state in various capacities.
I have worked in closely held family businesses as well as international companies. I have held the position of Vice President of operations for a company of Heavy Highway work with 135 employees in the communities of Gillette, Sheridan and Buffalo Wyoming. Our company was the safest contractor in the state of Wyoming in the category of 100,000 + man hours 6 out of 7 years.
Politically I began in 1996 and was appointed to the City of Gillette’s Public Works & Utilities Advisory Committee which re-evaluated all city Construction standards among other responsibilities.
In 2004 I was elected to the Gillette City Council ward 3 and then Mayor of Gillette in 2010. As Mayor I was involved with the successful completion a $300 million Madison water project.

Experience

I have experienced and have helped shape the growth of Gillette from a tiny town of 3,000 people to a population of 30,000. Gillette Wyoming is the best organized, most well planned city in the state! I am very proud to be one of many before me that helped bring that vision of this first class city to fruition!
I presently serve as an elected trustee for Campbell County Health. Providing over $300 million dollars of healthcare to NE Wyoming with the help of 1,200 employees is wonderful!

Why I am Running

I love my home town and so proud of its accomplishments. It was the workforce of Gillette that developed the mining of low sulfur coal that eliminated acid rain in the Midwest and established the best clean air standards in the world.
I presently have a modest 1 man landscape/lawn care company that takes me out and through my community every day. I so enjoy seeing such a vibrant and growing community! It is for that reason I wish to be involved at the precinct level. To help ensure NE Wyoming remains a place of great opportunities!

Top 3 Priorities

1. Higher level education and training. Growing our own workforce that appreciates the standard of living that is here in Gillette.

2. Shared governmental efficiencies.
There is so much savings that can be enjoyed through constant communication and sharing of goals from all services.

3. Promoting NE Wyoming to the rest of the world. Agriculture, Energy and playgrounds! We have it all!
