Ashley Jessen (Republican)
Trustee-School District #2 - - (11808)
Biography
I’m a wife, mom of three, farmer, photographer, finance professional, and passionate advocate for public education and our community. My husband, Clint, and I own and operate Jessen Regenerative Farms, our organic farm and elevator just north of Pine Bluffs. We’ve raised our three children in this community and through Pine Bluffs schools—two are proud graduates, and our youngest will graduate in 2028.
I’m also the photographer behind Ashley Jessen Photography, where I love helping people celebrate the milestones and stories that matter to them.
I believe every student, regardless of background or circumstance, deserves an excellent education, supported educators, and the opportunity to thrive. I’m running for school board to serve with an open mind, listen to our community, and help keep students at the heart of every decision.
Experience
This is my first time running for public office, but I bring years of experience in finance, leadership, agriculture, small business, and community service. My finance background has built strong skills in budgeting, accountability, and long-term planning. As a farm and small business owner, I understand leadership, responsible decision-making, and the importance of listening, collaborating, and showing up for the people and community I serve.
Education
I attended Laramie County Community College (LCCC) and have continued my education through accounting coursework and professional certificate courses. My ongoing education and training have strengthened my knowledge in finance, business operations, and responsible financial management, while providing practical skills I use throughout my professional and business life.
Community Activities and Memberships
I’m a member of Mountain West Farm Bureau, Wyoming Wheat Growers Association, and Wyoming Press Association. I help plan and bring Literacy Camp to life for LCSD #2 students each summer, volunteer with the Pine Bluffs Elementary Christmas Store, and participate in community events—especially Trunk or Treat! I photograph local sporting events and provide photos to the Pine Bluffs Post to celebrate our student-athletes, and I support and donate to school activities whenever I can.
Why I am Running
My belief in opportunity and access is at the heart of why I’m so passionate about public education. I believe every student, regardless of background or circumstance, deserves an excellent education, supported educators, and the opportunity to thrive. I love this community and the people in it. Running for school board is another way I hope to serve—by listening with an open mind, supporting our students and educators, and working to ensure students remain at the heart of every decision.
Top 3 Priorities
1. Staff Retention & Support - Our teachers and staff are the foundation of our schools. LCSD #2 should be a place where great educators feel valued, respected, and supported, and where they want to stay, grow, and thrive. That means listening to staff, providing the resources they need to do their jobs well, and building a culture of trust and appreciation.
2. Transparency & Public Trust - A school board serves the public, and our community should understand how and why decisions are made. Executive sessions have legitimate purposes, but should be used only when appropriate and necessary. Whenever possible, the board should work openly. Clear communication and transparency help strengthen trust among the board, staff, parents, and our communities.
3. Responsible Budgeting & Resources - Every dollar matters, especially in a rural district. We need thoughtful long-term planning and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars while ensuring students and educators have the resources they need to succeed. Fiscal responsibility and supporting our classrooms are not competing goals. Good planning requires both.
