I moved to Wyoming in 1977 for education at the University of Wyoming. I spent greater than 20 years in Casper, and now live Sheridan County. Wyoming is where I raised my two daughters and spent my professional career. I am currently a licensed Family Nurse Practitioner. I have had a rich and challenging career in the healthcare field. The most relevant activities to this Board is my extensive work with seniors over the past several decades. In Sheridan County I have worked at the VA, at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital in TCU, with the Hub and also Sheridan Health Center. Prior to that I founded home health care agencies providing the full scope of home care services. Working in private industry taught me budgeting, accounting, leadership, policy making and organizational management skills.

I have had broad range of experience that would be of value to this position in building the foundation for the Senior Citizen Service Board. I have worked with seniors in all healthcare settings. The needed skill of budgeting and accounting were honed while managing my successful home health care agency. Adherence to law and regulatory compliance were also learned in the management of my business. I have also served in leadership positions within industry networks.

Service on Federal Regulatory Fairness Board at the request of Wyoming Senator Craig Thomas.

I am offering my unique combination of the understanding of challenges of the senior population along with my skills of business management, budgeting and accounting, and experience with the functioning of a board to this new service in Sheridan County. I may not be the best candidate for boards providing leadership in other industries, but I am passionate about the services available for our aging population in Sheridan County. I feel I bring expertise, insights and ideas to share with the community as well as practical skills. I would like to work in the foundational years for this board to set the tone to carry forward. The monies being collected for this Service District must be used wisely. This calls for frequently reassessment of needs and priorities, adapting as needed.

1) The Service District must address the needs of the most vulnerable first. The basic needs of food, shelter and safety for the elderly should remain the foundation of senior services and be available throughout the county.
2) Access to Health Care and medical treatment is essential for prolonging independence for our seniors, this priority is supported through transportation services and provision of care in the home.
3) Support of those living independently and to the caregivers for the dependent seniors is crucial. Family caregivers and all seniors benefit from education and support in order to maintain an independent life. I see this as a coordinated effort to provide individual and group educational opportunities. Topics of concern could include home safety, fall prevention, recognition of scams, availability of medical equipment, housing options, care giver respite options, food delivery options, the list could be without limits.
