Brenda moved to Cheyenne in 1979. She worked in various jobs and became the mother of two daughters. Brenda completed her education with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Drake University then attended the University of Wyoming College of Law, receiving a Juris Doctor in 1999. She worked in Bankruptcy and Family Law until joining the Wyoming Department of Family Services as an Administrator for the Child Support Enforcement Program and later for benefit programs such as TANF, SNAP and Child Care Subsidies. While at DFS, she was named the state’s first Homelessness Program Administrator. After leaving DFS, Brenda worked as the Wyoming attorney for a national debt relief program. She retired in 2023. Brenda held elected office on the Board of Trustees for Laramie County Community College for 16 years. She is a 2011 graduate of Leadership Wyoming. As her creative outlet, Brenda is an actor, director and costumer for the community theatre, directs her church choir, and plays the saxophone.

Attorney for 27 years. Worked in state government for 16 years in social services including administering the Child Support Enforcement Program, which became the #1 performing program in the county, and the Homelessness program. Worked extensively with the legislature. Worked as a debt relief attorney for 9 years before retiring. Served as an elected member of the LCCC Board of Trustees for 16 years, having been elected for 4 terms. Serves on the Board of the My Front Door housing program.

When I moved to Cheyenne, I loved the caring people, the independent spirit, the wide open spaces, and the sense of individual freedom. I have see us lose to values and, instead, have our state government make decisions based on a national political agenda instead of what is best for Wyoming. I have seen the erosion of support for public schools, how medical debt has put so many of our families into financial crisis, the need for affordable housing, the commodification of our land, and the loss of individual freedoms. I want to bring the Wyoming values that I love and respect back into our state government. We need local leadership that cares about our precious gifts and the future of our families.

My top 3 priorities are:

Adequate funding needed for excellent public schools and public school programs.

Access to affordable health care and keeping our families out of financial crisis when they are injured or become ill.

Examination of our lack of housing and what steps we can take to make sure our families have a safe and affordable home.
