Brent Bien (Republican)

Brent Bien is a Wyoming native, University of Wyoming engineering graduate, retired United States Marine Corps Colonel, combat aviator, and lifelong conservative dedicated to serving Wyoming and the nation. During his 28-year military career, he flew 275 combat missions in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Balkans, led Marines in combat without losing a single Marine under his command, and managed an approximately $9 billion military infrastructure program completed ahead of schedule and under budget. After returning home to Wyoming, Brent served as Director of Safety and Standardization for Bighorn Airways and helped launch Wyoming's first successful citizen ballot initiative in more than 30 years to reduce residential property taxes by 50%. Brent and his wife of more than 30 years, Susan, a retired Navy nurse, are the proud parents of three grown daughters. Together they share a lifelong commitment to faith, family, service, and the future of Wyoming.

Brent Bien earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Wyoming and a Master's in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College. His education, combined with advanced military leadership and aviation training, prepared him to manage complex organizations, oversee multi-billion-dollar projects, solve challenging problems, and provide disciplined, accountable leadership focused on practical solutions and fiscal responsibility.

After retiring from the Marine Corps, Brent Bien returned home to Wyoming to continue serving its people. He helped lead Wyoming's first successful citizen ballot initiative in more than 30 years, proposing a 50% reduction in residential property taxes. Brent also served as a 2024 Republican National Convention delegate and one of Wyoming's three Presidential Electors. His commitment is to accountable government, constitutional freedoms, and putting Wyoming first.

I am running for Governor because I believe Wyoming is at a crossroads. After serving our nation for 28 years as a United States Marine Corps Colonel, I came home to the state I love and saw a government that had become increasingly disconnected from the people it serves. I watched rising property taxes threaten families, growing federal influence erode state sovereignty, and government expand beyond its proper role.
During my 2022 campaign, I traveled across Wyoming and listened. Whether I was speaking with ranchers, energy workers, veterans, teachers, small business owners, or young families, I heard the same message: people want accountable government, lower taxes, secure elections, affordable healthcare, strong schools focused on traditional education, and leaders who put Wyoming first.
Instead of walking away after that election, I continued working alongside Wyoming citizens. Together, we organized the first successful citizen ballot initiative in more than 30 years to reduce residential property taxes by 50 percent because I believe government should answer to the people—not the other way around.
Leadership is about service, accountability, and doing what is right, even when it is difficult. Those principles guided me throughout my military career, and they will guide me as Governor.
I am running to restore trust in government, protect our constitutional freedoms, defend Wyoming's water, energy, agriculture, and private property rights, and ensure decisions about Wyomi

As Governor, my first priority will be conducting a wall-to-wall audit of Wyoming state government. Before asking taxpayers for another dollar, we owe them a full accounting of how their money is being spent. Government must become more efficient, transparent, and accountable to the people it serves.
Second, I will fight to reduce the financial burden on Wyoming families by lowering property taxes, strengthening our energy economy, protecting agriculture, and making healthcare more affordable through greater transparency, competition, and responsible reform. Wyoming's prosperity should benefit the people who live and work here.
Third, I will protect Wyoming's sovereignty, natural resources, and constitutional freedoms. That includes defending our water rights, supporting responsible energy production, securing our elections, and ensuring decisions about Wyoming are made in Wyoming—not Washington.
I also believe Wyoming must carefully evaluate emerging industries before committing our land, water, and energy resources. I oppose AI data centers that consume valuable agricultural land, strain our water supply, or increase demands on our power grid without providing a clear, long-term benefit to Wyoming citizens. Any major development must demonstrate that it strengthens our state, protects our resources, and serves the people of Wyoming first.
