Biography

I was born and raised in Laramie, WY. I graduated from Laramie High School and from the University of Wyoming. I left Laramie three times and returned each time. I love Laramie, the community, and the people. My husband, Joe and I have been married for 18 years and have two amazing daughters Taylor and Sammie. My mom and grandparents were local business owners, so I was raised to work hard and always be humble. I love spending time outdoors, watching a great basketball game, and reading.

Experience

I have worked in the Assessor’s office for over 17 years and was appointed County Assessor in November of 2021. I began as the mobile home specialist and worked up to the field supervisor, then the residential appraiser. In 2016 I became the Deputy Assessor. I have been certified by the State of Wyoming as a Property Tax Appraiser since 2010 and have over 535 credit hours in education. I have attended several Wyoming Assessor Association meetings and am a member of the International Association

Education

I graduated the University of Wyoming in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in criminal justice. As mentioned previously I am certified by the State of Wyoming as a property tax appraiser. I take continuing education hours annually to maintain this certification.

Community Activities and Memberships

I am a third-generation member of Soroptimist of Laramie, a local volunteer group whose mission is to support the lives of women and girls. I have served on the board for several years and held multiple board positions including President. Soroptimist of Laramie is very near and dear to my heart not only because of the amazing work this group does for our community and the friendships I have developed but because it was something my grandmother, mother, and I did together.

Why I am Running

I am running for office because I believe the County Assessor is a very important job and experience is necessary. I understand the importance of every tax dollar collected and also understand I work for the taxpayer. I care for our citizens and understand the rules and regulations the County Assessor must follow when valuing property.

Top 3 Priorities

1. Fair and equitable property valuations: I will continue to ensure properties are assessed accurately and in accordance with Wyoming law and Department of Revenue guidelines.
2. Accessibility and transparency: I believe taxpayers deserve an office where they feel comfortable asking questions and expressing concerns. I will continue maintaining an open-door policy and providing responsive customer service to the residents of Albany County.
3. Public education and awareness: Property taxes can be complicated, and it is important that taxpayers understand how values are determined and what exemptions are available. I will continue expanding outreach and encourage everyone to open their notices of value and read the included flyers.
