Dean Sparks (Republican)
Mayor - Glenrock - (276)
Biography
I have over 40 years working in and around government. I spent 27 years in law enforcement and have continued working with governmental entities since retiring from law enforcement. I retired from law enforcement as a Chief Deputy Sheriff, which is the equivalent to a Wyoming Undersheriff. I built and managed a multimillion-dollar budget and managed 50 employees. I wanted to live in Wyoming my entire adult life and moved here as soon as I could. I have lived in Converse and Natrona Counties for 20 years. I proudly call Glenrock my home.
I continue to work with local, county, state and federal governmental entities and elected officials. Most recently I have testified at the Wyoming Legislative Transportation Committee to successfully change Wyoming law to make it easier for towns and cities to bid and purchase goods. I continue to contact our local US Senator in an attempt to get the Save Act put on the Senate Floor so we can protect our voting rolls.
Experience
I owned a retail store in Casper for 4 years during the pandemic. I understand what it takes to successfully navigate the business world and have ideas on how the Town of Glenrock can help business owners and cultivate new business in Glenrock.
I believe there have been some good decisions made to enhance Glenrock’s infrastructure, but some decisions that may not be so wise in accordance with bringing businesses to Glenrock. Without local businesses, Glenrock will struggle to stay alive.
Education
After graduating high school on the Honor Roll, I graduated on the Dean's List at a Technical Community College and I strongly believe in local community colleges. I achieved Professional Peace Officer status with they Wyoming Peace Officers Standards and Training Board and have over 1300 hours of documented training.
Community Activities and Memberships
I have been heavily involved in Community and Church Service activities anywhere I have lived. I am a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and have been a member of the FOP and Eagles. I have sat on the Board of Directors for a Domestic Violence Coalition and many other community based activities.
Why I am Running
I believe there have been some good decisions made to enhance Glenrock’s infrastructure, but some decisions that may not be so wise in accordance with bringing businesses to Glenrock. Without local businesses, Glenrock will struggle to stay alive and will struggle to keep our younger generations interested in staying in Glenrock. I want to be a driving force to keep Glenrock from drying up and becoming a dying community.
