My name is Don Julian, and I am honored to be a candidate for the Sheridan College board of trustees.

I have been a lifelong Wyoming resident, growing up on a ranch in southwest Wyoming and graduating from Kemmerer High School. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wyoming, and my family and I have lived in Sheridan since 2007.
My career has been deeply rooted in education — I have held positions as a teacher, coach, and activities director at the secondary education level. I also had the privilege of spending five years working for the University of Wyoming prior to moving to Sheridan, while there I worked as a coach and athletic administrator with the football program and later as assistant AD for annual giving in the Cowboy Joe Club. Today, I continue to use those experiences to teach leadership, mainly to educators, coaches, and business leaders, helping them develop skills that benefit their

Beyond my professional experience, I have been actively involved in Sheridan County through multiple board memberships. This involvement has given me valuable insight into collaborating with educational systems, local businesses, and community organizations. I also bring significant experience in fundraising and working with foundations — skills that are important for supporting and advancing our college’s mission.

I am running for the college board of trustees because I believe the board’s role is critical: to hire and evaluate the college president, set strategic direction, approve the budget, and govern through thoughtful policies. I am confident that my background prepares me well to fulfill these responsibilities.

I have worked closely with local school districts and businesses, and my priorities involve strengthening the partnerships between Sheridan College and those entities. I believe in the importance of Career and Technical Education, workforce training, leadership development, supporting our local economy, and community involvement.

My top priorities will include expanding Career and Technical Education programs and strengthening the pipeline from secondary to college students through workforce training initiatives. I want to help build stronger partnerships with local businesses to support economic growth and ensure our students are able to fulfill opportunities right here in Sheridan County. I am also committed to enhancing connections between our secondary schools and the college through concurrent and dual credit programs, as well as other educational opportunities.

Lastly, I would like to explore the feasibility of bringing back athletic programs to campus. I recognize and understand the value they add to student life and community spirit as well as the curricular opportunities and regional recruiting opportunities that go hand in hand with these programs. I realize that there is a financial obligation to running an athletic program, but I believe it would be worth investigating what and how we may be able to add to accompany our rodeo program along with our clubs and organizations.
