Harley Shuck (Republican)
County Commissioner - - (111)
Biography
My name is Harley Shuck and I am running for a position on the Sheridan County Commission. My wife and I have owned property and lived in Sheridan County for thirty-five years. Our children all attended Tongue River schools. Some of you may know us from there. Some of you may have become acquainted with me in the last election cycle (I worked in the Election Office). Others may remember me as the service and delivery truck driver for your propane out in the county, a position I worked for sixteen years until the company adopted a business model I could no longer condone. I also coached Little League for many years for Tongue River teams.
Having dispensed with the introduction, I'll get to the point. We have been laboring under the burden of a county commission with little respect for the taxpayer and private property rights for a lot of years now. County wide planning and zoning is a principle borrowed from the west coast and has no place here.

Why I am Running
My name is Harley Shuck, and I am running for a position on the Sheridan County Commission. I am 63 years old, and have lived in Wyoming for the last 36 of those years. My wife and I have been residents and property owners in Sheridan County for 35 years, with our children all attending Tongue River schools.
I have earned two college degrees, ultimately culminating in a Bachelor's Degree in engineering (automotive), summa cum laude, from Weber State University. I worked in the automotive service and sales field before, during, and after my return to college, working up to management positions with different companies. I have held ASE certification. Along the way, I have also worked several years in the ag industry, both on farms and ranches. I spent 16 years locally with a national propane supplier, building and servicing gas systems. All of this has helped to develop a mindset geared toward identifying problems, developing best solutions for the least cost, and implementing them.
Going forward, it is imperative that all of our elected officials and others employed by the county come together in the realization that we work for, and need to safeguard, the best interests of the residents, and especially the taxpayers, of the county. This could best be accomplished with assistance, rather than interference or encroachment, from other departments. Where duties and procedures are set by statute, we must follow statute. The statutes are available for all to read.
