My name is Jaymie Crews, and my husband, Jim, and I are proud to call Sundance home. We have raised three children, and our youngest is currently a senior at Sundance High School. Being a parent has given me many years of firsthand experience with public education and the important role our schools play in the lives of students, families, and our communities.

Professionally, I work in Accounting and Finance where my responsibilities require accountability, attention to detail, problem-solving, and responsible stewardship. My background also includes education in business and administration of justice, as well as experience in management and public service.

I value strong families, strong schools, and strong communities, and I believe in listening, asking questions, working together, and making thoughtful decisions with the long-term interests of students in mind.

I currently work in Accounting and Finance where I have experience with budgeting, financial reporting, asset management, inventory, work orders, auditing, process improvement, and responsible stewardship of resources.

My professional background has taught me the importance of accountability, accuracy, transparency, and making well-informed decisions.

Prior to my current role, I have an educational background in both business and administration of justice and continue to further my education.

I studied Administration of Justice at Yuba College, where I completed the Correctional Officer Academy, and later studied Business at Feather River College. My professional development includes training in accounting, financial systems, plant accounting, inventory and purchasing, and RUS standards.

I am actively involved in supporting my children’s schools and activities, including athletics, band, choir, drama, and school events. I volunteer through my church, including children’s ministry, as well as with the Sundance Jr. Rodeo Club and the Vore Buffalo Jump. I am also a local small-business owner and participate as a vendor at the Sundance Farmers Market.

I am running for the Crook County School District #1 Board because I care deeply about our students, our schools, and the communities they serve. With my youngest child graduating in 2027, our family is nearing the end of many years as parents with children in school, but my desire to be involved and give back to our schools is not ending with graduation.

I believe our schools should provide students with a strong foundation in reading, writing, math, science, and history while also giving them opportunities to discover their individual strengths. Whether a student chooses college, a trade, military service, or goes directly into the workforce, I want our schools to help prepare them to be capable, responsible, and productive adults.

I also believe parents should have a meaningful voice in their children’s education and that open, respectful communication between families, educators, administration, and the board is important. As a board member, I would listen, ask questions, carefully consider the information presented, and approach decisions with accountability and responsible stewardship.

Most importantly, I want to help protect what makes our local schools special while thoughtfully preparing them for the future. Although Sundance is home, I would serve At Large with the understanding that Hulett, Moorcroft, and Sundance are all part of one district, and every student deserves to be considered in the decisions we make.

1. Strong Academics and Preparing Students for Life
My first priority is keeping a strong focus on the fundamentals of education, including reading, writing, math, science, and history. I also want students to have opportunities to explore career and technical education, college, trades, military service, and other career paths. Success after graduation looks different for every student, and our schools should help prepare each of them for what comes next.

2. Parents, Teachers and Community Working Together
I believe parents play an important role in their children’s education. I want to encourage open, respectful communication among parents, teachers, administration, the board, and our communities. I believe listening to different perspectives, asking questions, and communicating clearly helps build trust and leads to better decisions for students.

3. Responsible Stewardship and Protecting Our Local Schools
I want to be a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars and district resources while keeping students at the center of decisions. I believe in planning for the long term, supporting and retaining quality teachers and staff, and preserving the strengths and individual identities of our schools. As an At-Large member, I would consider the needs of Hulett, Moorcroft, and Sundance while remembering that we are one district serving all Crook County students
