Why I am Running

God has blessed my life, and I had a great career. It would be easy to fade into retirement. However, I know the challenges Sweetwater County, Wyoming, and America face, and I refuse to sit quietly while our values, our safety, and our way of life are threatened.
Having served as an elected Sheriff I know the great responsibilities which come with the Office of Sheriff. I understand the word “Sheriff” isn’t just a title. It is an oath to protect the People within our County from all threats. To be a Sheriff is to stand for the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Wyoming. A Sheriff stands against any attempt designed to take away your Constitutional rights. The Sheriff is the elected voice of the People and is accountable to the People. As Sheriff your safety will be my number one focus. I will focus on taking drug dealers off our streets and work to keep their deadly drugs out of the hands of our children.
These are not just words to me; I have lived them. I consistently stood against policies I believed violated the Constitution, undermined public safety, or harmed the People. I have fought against policies and ideologies that are threatening the fabric of our society down to our values. I look forward to serving the People of Sweetwater County as your Sheriff and working to make our communities the greatest places in America to live, work and raise a family. I ask for your prayers, your support, and your vote as we move forward to build a great future.

Top 3 Priorities

Public Safety First:
Your safety is my number one focus. I will dedicate the resources of the Sheriff's Office to keeping Sweetwater County safe for families, businesses, and visitors alike. I will take drug dealers off our streets and work tirelessly to keep deadly drugs out of the hands of our children. I was the driving force behind the formation of a Violent Gang Safe Streets Task Force — melding local, state, federal, and community resources to disrupt and dismantle entrenched and often transnational criminal enterprises that flood communities with violence, powerful illegal drugs, and despair. The result: a 44% reduction in violent crime between 2007 and 2015.

Constitutional Integrity:
A Sheriff stands against any attempt to take away your Constitutional rights. I have consistently stood against unconstitutional policies throughout my career and will continue to do so as your Sheriff. The Sheriff is also the elected voice of the People and is accountable to the People. I will operate the Sheriff's Office with full transparency and fiscal responsibility.

Professional Training
Law enforcement excellence begins with training. We will build a professional, well-trained Sheriff's Office that Sweetwater County can be proud of, drawing on my experience building nationally recognized training programs.
