Peter Hawkins (Republican)
Trustee-School District #2 - - (11810)
Biography
I am grateful and willing to continue to contribute to the Sheridan community in this role. Our family has been blessed to call Sheridan Wyoming home for the past almost 30 years. My wife, Aurelie, and I have loved raising our four children in the SCSD2 schools. We would have it no other way. It is no surprise that we believe in our schools and have experienced first hand how truly great SCSD2 schools are. Those who know our family know that each of our children is unique. Our schools gave them what was necessary to be successful adults, contributing today to our community and raising our grand-children right here in Sheridan. One of them is a small business owner, one is a rancher, one is a teacher and one is a police officer. We are very proud of who they have become and very grateful to the community and the schools for the support and opportunities given to each of our children. We would like to see this excellence in education continue for our grand-children and their generation.
Experience
I have invested 36 years of my professional life in public education as a Teacher, Coach, Sponsor, Activities Director and Administrator. I have made my career of loving and serving the communities in which we have been privileged to live and work. 17 of those years were right here in Sheridan, Wyoming working at Sheridan High School. 9 of those years were in Indiana and 2 in Buffalo, WY. Our final 8 years were invested in working in Native Schools in remote Alaska as Principal.
Education
BA French Education – Grace College
MA Missions – Grace Theological Seminary

Community Activities and Memberships
My goal has always been to try to give more back to our community than we take away. It is difficult to do that in Sheridan as our family has received so much from our community over the past 30 years. Our School and our Church (Ignite Wesleyan) have consistently been our community. I have volunteered to sponsor student activities, coached, mentored colleagues and practiced Educational Leadership on an everyday basis. I have also served on state-wide governor task forces and committees.
Why I am Running
To Love and to Serve the Sheridan Community and our children and grand-children.
I was asked by multiple people to run for our school board. They believe that the experience I bring to the table is very valuable. My experience here in Sheridan has given me an in-the-trenches understanding of why and how our SCSD2 schools are so great and the values and dispositions that will continue to make them great for the following generations. I am very grateful to the Sheridan Schools and Community and am willing to continue to love and to serve our community in the role of School Board Trustee.
