Travis French (Republican)
City Council - Cheyenne - (293)
Biography
I am a husband, father, and veteran of the Wyoming Air National Guard. I am a certified Health Coach through the Trinity School of Natural Health and a Christian. I moved to Cheyenne in 2005 and have come to greatly admire the city and the people in it.
Experience
I am a former business owner, natural health coach, and veteran of the Wyoming Air National Guard. I am also a proud Christian which informs my decisions in every aspect of my personal and professional life. Government has a duty to be fiscally responsible and socially coherent, I intend to bring old knowledge back to the council and their recent bad decisions.
Education
I have multiple certifications related to my career field and nutrition along with an associate's degree in applied science through the CCAF.
Community Activities and Memberships
I volunteer with Cheyenne Hills Church and occasionally assist local organizations with events.
Why I am Running
I am running for City Council because the current members lack intelligence, willpower, and morals. Their plans to spend millions of taxpayer funds on frivolous ventures knows no bounds, and their inability to stand up for citizens by refusing energy cost increases is infuriating as a citizen. The current council has lost the ability to represent their constituents and should be fired for their incompetence.
Top 3 Priorities
My top 3 issues are:
1. Infrastructure - Aging infrastructure needs to be prioritized and replaced. Frequent and devastating water main breaks in a growing city is unacceptable. Wasting taxpayer funds to purchase empty buildings while homes are flooded with sewage shows the city council and mayor have lost focus of the important fundamental things a city needs to be prosperous.
2. Crime - Homeless transients, drugs, and thefts have increased in this city. Simple steps can be taken to empower police officers to act accordingly and deter crime. Recent Supreme court rulings allow this city to dissuade homeless camping overnight. Citizens also needs to feel empowered to protect their own property without unjust prosecution.
3. Expansion - The city has a limited amount of resources available. The current mayor and council seem to think there is a never-ending supply of water, energy, and land available for a doubling of the population. The city needs to be realistic with the resources they are managing. Growth needs to be measured and at a sustainable pace, rather than throwing as many houses together as fast as possible and hoping for the best.
